Prioritizing Your Visual Needs
Contact lenses perform a similar function to your prescription glasses. They are worn to correct refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia.
Our team reviews your lifestyle needs and preferences during your exam to determine what type of lenses can best benefit you.
At Port Royal Eye Care, our team pays attention to the details and prioritizes the patient experience. Our comprehensive contact lens exam and fitting help you get a comfortable and safe fit.
Types of Contact Lenses
At Port Royal Eye Care, we offer several types of lenses to cover our patient’s unique visual needs. Contact lenses fall under 2 main categories, soft contact lenses, and rigid gas permeable (RGP). Specialty lenses fall under these main categories and help solve various vision issues.
Toric contact lenses are designed to help correct astigmatism. These lenses come in the soft and RGP varieties and contain multiple powers, one vertical and the other horizontal. These multiple powers help correct nearsightedness and farsightedness.
Toric lenses are typically weighted to help maintain the correct orientation on the eye.
Multifocal contact lenses can have a bifocal and trifocal design with distinct lens powers to correct vision at varying distances. Multifocal lenses are designed to correct presbyopia and can eliminate the need for reading glasses.
Multifocal lenses are available in soft and RGP options and are designed for daily or extended overnight wear. Our team can help you get a precise fit during the fitting process!
Ortho-k lenses are designed to reduce your dependence on both contact lenses and glasses throughout the day. These lenses are inserted at night and removed in the morning, allowing you to see clearly throughout the day by temporarily reshaping the cornea to improve vision.

The Fitting Process
Part of our contact lens exam is determining the comfort and vision correction of your new contact lenses.
We begin the fitting process by assessing the health of the cornea to ensure that you can wear contact lenses comfortably. Following comprehensive testing, our team will fit you with trial lenses and schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your comfort with your new lenses.
